How it works
Paint quantity is the total wall area multiplied by the number of coats, divided by the paint’s coverage. Doors and windows are subtracted from the area. The calculator assumes about 21 ft² for a standard door and 15 ft² for a window.
How to measure
Measure length and width along the baseboard, and height from floor to ceiling. Add any columns or alcoves to the room perimeter.
Tips
- Prime first when going from a dark to a light color, or when painting fresh drywall or plaster.
- Coverage drops on textured surfaces, which absorb more paint than smooth ones.
- Keep a little paint aside in a tightly sealed container for touch-ups.
